WARNING:
Here’s what every ocean lover needs to know about the impact of plastic waste.
Without combined effort from companies, politicians and you, our oceans may have more plastic waste in them than fish by 2050.
Thankfully, you can be a part of the solution by making a pledge to support companies and leaders that are actively part of the single use plastic solution.
Why this matters:
Did you know, plastic takes 450 years to decompose? Meaning that plastic bottle you threw away will still exist when your grandchildren have their grandchildren!
Plastic is durable, strong and long-lasting. So why do we only design plastic products to be used one time?
We use a large amount of fossil fuels to create plastic, and this process emits an enormous amount of greenhouse gases – directly contributing to climate change.
Reducing our single-use plastic consumption is crucial for helping protect our planet and oceans, and defend against the climate crisis.
So we are going to reward the brands that are making the changes in their supply change that shift to packaging that doesn’t end up in the oceans.
Watch as Lucy Biggers takes up the challenge to go one month without single-use plastic in an effort to combat plastic pollution and climate change.
Around half of all plastic production is single-use and worldwide, only 10-13% of plastic items are recycled.
This plastic ends up in our oceans, breaking down into micro-plastics ingested by marine life. This causes digestive damage and eventually leads to death for many species.
It’s also directly contributing to releasing greenhouse gases into our atmosphere – in production and post-use as it breaks down.
It’s not too late. We can still turn the tide on plastic.
Eight states have already banned single use plastic bags and a least another 95 bills related to plastic bags were introduced by State lawmakers in 2019 alone.
The more of us that support the companies and leaders that are actively being a part of the single-use plastic solution, the better the chance we have at saving our oceans and other natural habitats.
You can help turn the tide on plastic.
In This Together is a collection of Democrats, Republicans, and independents working to put environmental protection first by supporting companies and leaders committed to, and actively working to fix our biggest environmental issues.
We don’t see red or blue. We see a green future for all of us.

We want to show companies that we’re really behind them for supporting single-use plastic solutions.
If you can share this with ten of your friends and you can sign the pledge below, we’re one step closer to getting more brands on board.
