AN invitation to

Join the Leadership Circle

Engaging select philanthropists, corporate leaders, and influencers together to help align on serious climate, energy security and economic challenges

The Leadership Circle

As a leader committed to addressing the environmental, energy and economic challenges facing us, we invite you to join a powerful network of high net worth environmental donors, broadly centrist NGO leaders, corporate leaders from strategically significant sectors, small business leaders, and media and campaign strategists. This Leadership Circle includes prominent funders among those who have already committed $20B in the aggregate to climate initiatives, with $10B more expected soon.

These are sophisticated philanthropists and selected NGO leaders they fund. They understand that aggressive communications can raise public awareness, but cannot forge trusting collaborations or resilient solutions to the increasingly serious climate, energy security and economic challenges we face. They know solutions require active private sector participation – spurred and supported by effective, pragmatic and bipartisan public policies. Thus, they now seek to bring a core group of senior executives from leading companies in about five sectors to their inner circle to help advise and collaborate with them.

Develop a close working relationship with these select donors, grantees, leaders, and strategists, in private small group discussions, monthly roundtables, semi-annual summits, and one-on-one meetings that we will arrange at your request. Our private meetings are held under ground rules that create a safe space for exploring ideas, building trust, and deepening relationships. This unique, direct dialogue with the donors funding and leaders directing the campaigns and initiatives affecting your industry, business or activism can:

  • Build common understanding and consensus on the solutions needed for major challenges like climate change, conservation, ocean health and plastic waste solutions
  • Identify gaps in funding or support needed for initiatives and organizations focused on developing, advocating, and building stakeholder support for pragmatic, bipartisan solutions
  • Foster sharing of insights, contacts, and resources with key solution-oriented groups, as the donors currently do with organizations such as ClearPath, Nature Conservancy, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES), American Conservation Coalition, BridgeUSA, Citizens Climate Lobby and Climate Leadership Council.
We hope you will step forward to join us in bringing together unexpected allies to confront these common challenges across partisan, ideological, and sectoral lines.

Sincerely,

Bill Shireman

Volunteer CEO

The Donor Roundtable Leadership Circle is a collaboration of problem-solving philanthropic, business, and civic leaders managed by Solution Citizen, Inc., a C corporation operating in the public interest. We provide support and funding to Bridge Foundation and other nonprofits that support pragmatic solutions that are effective and supported by a large majority of informed citizens.

The Process

Members of the Leadership Circle will convene for education, relationship-building, and collaboration monthly by Zoom and at least annually on location in April in Dallas, Texas. We will meet under Chatham House Rules, so conversations can be safe and open.

Joining you on Zoom or in person will be a community of 15-25 influential donors, NGO leaders, corporate executives, small business leaders, communication specialists and advisors who share a commitment to certain pragmatic energy and climate solutions. Each participant’s resources complement others in the room, so that if two or more participants choose, they can combine their distinctive tools and approaches to advocate solutions they agree upon.

To help develop a close working relationship, our discussions will be guided by a set of potential bipartisan energy and climate policies we call Pragmatic Climate Solutions – practical policies that can smooth the path to a Net Zero economy. To identify these, we have been guided by organizations that focus on bipartisan solutions that appeal to conservatives as well as the middle 70% of informed citizens.

No participants are expected or required to formally endorse any specific policies. Likewise, not all participants will agree on all issues. The most important objective is to engage in conversations that help us understand each other, earn trust, and discover opportunities we might not expect for two or more participants to work together for shared objectives.

Among the Pragmatic Climate Solutions on which we will engage in focused discussion are:

“ANY or ALL clean energy choices

Solar and wind, conventional and carbon capture, electrification and digitization, nuclear and hydrogen, innovation, efficiency etc.

Policies for energy independence

Trade and domestic production policies that reduce global dependence on adverse regimes, assure reliable affordable supplies, create manufacturing jobs, and protect national security, democracy, and human rights.

Permitting reforms

Efficient regulations, and IRA/IIJA funding decisions that unleash American innovators and entrepreneurs to grow a cleaner and more circular economy.

Recycling choices and plastic solutions

Including both mechanical and advanced recycling, innovation-based source reduction, nature-based approaches, easier repair, and other market-friendly actions that reduce life cycle carbon impacts and enhance ocean health.

Smart incentives

Such as deposits, EPR, and border adjustments that reward sustainability and circularity.

Performance & supply chain enhancements

Such as voluntary private sector guidelines that promote practices leading to Regenerative Agriculture, Net Zero Carbon, Net Zero Deforestation, Clean Cargo and Shipping. Sustainable Fisheries, Sustainable Mining on Land and Sea, and Plastic Reuse and Recycling systems.
